FORMER Celtic hero Peter Grant has his doubts over Adam Idah being a Celtic signing.
But Grant also confessed he felt the same way about MOUSSA DEMBELE before his arrival from Fulham in 2016.
Dembele cost £500,000 and was sold for £20 million two years later to Lyon after 26 goals in 55 league games.
Discussing the loan move for Idah on Go Radio, Grant said: “I’ve seen him play for Norwich, although not that often.
“Like everyone else, you can see his stats, it’s easy enough to do nowadays.
“I’m always loath a little bit, you look at the statistics and then you look at the goals. But you put the minutes in there as well, how many games has he played the full 90 minutes?
“The Championship’s a bit unforgiving for centre forwards – and Norwich haven’t been playing particularly well.
“So all these things for a striker isn’t great. That’s the negative side of it.
“And for a young lad, what I’ve seen of him, is he the finished article? Far from it.
“It’s a surprising one.
“And I don’t mean that disrespectfully to the kid.
“I’ve always said it, I played at Norwich, I managed Norwich. It’s a fantastic club.
“But Celtic is something different, there’s no getting away from that.
“The surprising thing is, the names going about, you’re going from Danny Ings and now it’s Danny Idah.
“I know the Republic of Ireland connection, he’s been playing for them probably more than Norwich recently.
“He’s a powerful young lad. When I saw him at the start he scored a few goals and always got into good positions.
“But like any young striker, his stats weren’t that high on the goals.
“But, in saying that, I worked with Moussa Dembele.
“And would I have recommended Moussa as a Celtic striker? The answer probably would’ve been no.
“Because, statistically, Moussa would’ve needed one in six – but a Celtic and Rangers striker, predominantly, would need four in six up here.
“But it’s ironic, when Moussa left, Moussa had one in five – and the Celtic fans loved him.”
Asked if Idah was better than South Korean Oh Hyeon-gyu – currently away on Asia Cup duty – Grant said: “I would say Oh’s ahead of him at this moment in time.
“He’s playing with the national team.
“But, of course, the biggest problem for Oh at the moment is that Kyogo’s playing in front of him.

“I’m like everyone else, any time I’ve seen Oh when he’s at his best, gets his minutes on the pitch, he’s a handful. People don’t like playing against him.
“I would say Oh’s ahead – but I’ve also not seen a lot of the young boy Idah.”
