The remaining 74 matches will be played only in India, including the playoffs, which are all set to commence from May 21. Meanwhile, the final will be played on May 26 in Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium.
The Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be hosted in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 21 and 22 respectively. Further, the Qualifier 2 and the final will be played in Chennai on May 24 and 26. Notably, Chennai was also the venue for the inaugural game of this season.
The ongoing tournament began on March 22, where the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings defeated their southern rivals, the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets.
The board had announced the IPL schedule only for the first 21 matches to be played in 17 days.
“As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with government and security agencies, following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and address any issues pertaining to the schedule of the first two weeks. Subsequently, the BCCI will work in tandem with local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remainder of the season, taking into account the polling dates,” BCCI had said in a release.
