Isabel Marant Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

For fall 2024, Isabel Marant went back to its bohemian roots and painted an image of an urban gaucho girl trotting across Paris in bold animal prints, fringed jackets, and statement ankle boots that are bound to turn heads on the street.

“I think a lot of people had the same [western] vibe at this moment. We wanted to give it a bit more of an edge, and to get a bit of movement with fringes. The girl is very strong. It’s about female empowerment, and to give it a bit of a twist, we added some reds in there,” said Kim Bekker, artistic director of Isabel Marant since 2021.

The collection offered lots of items that should sell, such as ankle boots with detachable metal chains, olive cargo pants, safari jackets, thick cable knits, bonded leopard-print jackets, and fringed scarves.

Sizable crossbody bags in beige and brown were interesting additions to the lineup. It almost served as a reminder that you can carry a laptop, a Stanley Cup, and baby diapers in one go while looking like you live in a Tadao Ando-designed ranch in New Mexico.

Overall, the collection felt refreshing, albeit following a familiar recipe. For those seeking to escape the reality of today’s dire economic situation, Marant’s lineup was filled with feel-good energy, something that often has been missing in London and Milan this season.
