Isla Fisher breaks social media silence amid Rebel Wilson allegations about Sacha Baron Cohen

If Rebel Wilson’s recent allegations against her husband are bothering Isla Fisher, she’s not letting on.

Fisher has broken her social media silence after it was revealed that Wilson’s new memoir, Rebel Rising, contained some unpleasant anecdotes about her time filming with Sacha Baron Cohen, to whom Fisher has been married since 2010.

The allegations stem from 2016, when Wilson and Baron Cohen filmed The Brothers Grimsby together.

Wilson has described Baron Cohen as an “a******”, has written that she was “scared” to work with him, and has claimed he was trying to prevent the publication of Rebel Rising.

In the book, she alleges Baron Cohen constantly tried to cajole her into doing lewd nude scenes.

Baron Cohen has denied the allegation that he tried to stop publication of the book, with a lawyer representing the actor saying Wilson’s claims were “demonstrably false”.

His wife, Aussie actress Isla Fisher, has remained silent as the furore swirled — until now.

But if followers were expecting a grand announcement defending her husband or attacking Wilson, they would have been disappointed.

Instead, Fisher posted a photo from a girls’ night out at the theatre.

In the photo, a messy-haired Fisher grins as she sits alongside Australian film producer Bruna Papandrea, Aussie actress Naomi Watts and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery.

The A-list crew was at the theatre to see a production of The Hills of California, directed by Sam Mendes (whose film credits include American Beauty and the Bond films Skyfall and Spectre).

The foursome appear to be having a great time.

“Girls night at the theatre @hoctheplay,” Fisher captioned the happy snap, tagging in the other three.

While some followers were happy to see Fisher having fun, others felt the need to chip in with questions about the whole Rebel Wilson scenario.

That prompted others to clap back, with one person telling the follower: “Mind your own business”.

This was Fisher’s first post since March 17 — before Wilson’s allegations against her husband came to light.

“I wrote about an a****** in my book. Now, said a****** is trying to threaten me,” Wilson posted on her Instagram stories ahead of the book’s original April 3 release date.

“He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers.

“He’s trying to stop press coming out about my book.

“But the book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.”

But on the day it was meant to be available in Australia, fans were unable to purchase it.

The next day, a Harper Collins Australia spokesperson said the book was being delayed in Australia to coincide with Wilson’s press tour.

The book is already available in the United States, where 44-year-old Wilson is in the midst of her press tour.

The actress is set to tour the UK to promote the book at the end of April, with the book now due for release there on April 25.

Wilson is set to return to Australia for a book tour in May, with an event at the Sydney Opera House on May 9.

Fisher has not publicly commented on Wilson’s allegations.
