Jason Kelce Explains His Shirtless Celebration Last Weekend

Jason Kelce, brother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, explained what was going through his mind when he ripped off his shirt and chugged a beer after his brother scored a touchdown in the Chiefs-Bills game last Sunday.

Kelce, who also plays in the NFL as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles, drew attention to himself last weekend when he ripped his shirt off and shouted in triumph while holding a beer from a suite at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. After chugging the beer, he proceeded to jump down from the suite window into the crowd to celebrate his brother’s success.

“I got caught up in the magic of ‘Bills Mafia’. It is, it is electric,” Jason told his brother Travis earlier this week during their podcast New Heights.

“The energy, the shenanigans, and I’m, like, I gotta have my shirt off at some point,” he added. “And I didn’t get to do it beforehand…and I can’t just take my shirt off in the box — like, who takes their shirt off in the box?…So I’m, like — you know what? — I’m taking my shirt off, and I’m jumping out of this box…This is how my mind works after 40 Miller Lite.”

The touchdown scored by Travis helped give the Chief a much needed 12-10 lead over the Bills late into the second quarter. The Chiefs went on to win the game by a score of 27-24.

Jason then noted that his wife, Kylie, tried to talk him out of going through with the shirtless celebration after he gave her a heads up about his plans.

“I gave Kylie a heads-up. She said, ‘Jason, don’t you dare.’ I said, ‘I’m not asking for permission; I’m doing this,” Kelce said. “She was already telling me to be on my best behavior because we were meeting Taylor (Swift)…I was like, ‘Kylie, the first day I met you I was blackout drunk and fell asleep at the bar.’ This is part of the charm. This is part of the Jason Kelce charm.”
