The Waiting For Tonight hitmaker filed the paperwork on Tuesday, August 20, the same day as their wedding anniversary.
However, Lopez listed the separation date for the couple as April 26, 2024, as per legal documents obtained by TMZ.
According to the report, the pair had not signed a prenuptial agreement.
Lopez has a net worth of about $US400 million. Meanwhile, Affleck has a reported net worth of $US150 million.
The A-list couple could be set for a legal fight, with their earnings for the past two years now “community property”, under US law.
According to the documents, Lopez is not seeking spousal support and asking it be denied to the Good Will Hunting Actor.
The pair were last spotted together in New York on March 30, holding hands.
The pair were first engaged in 2002 but postponed their wedding the following year and officially split early in 2004.
The couple reunited in 2021, and tied the knot on August 20, 2022, in a lavish ceremony at Affleck’s compound in the southern US state of Georgia.
Entertainment publications have said for months the pair were about to split, including InTouch magazine in May.
“The writing is on the wall — it’s over,” an insider told the publication.
“Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for.
“They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”
