Jennifer Lopez gets to keep $2.5M from canceled tour: source

Her love does cost a thing.

Jennifer Lopez canceled her “This Is Me … Live” tour amid her marital woes with Ben Affleck, but she is keeping part of her $10 million signing bonus, insiders told Paula Froelich of NewsNation.

During the pandemic, Live Nation changed its policy, so now, if a tour is canceled because of “poor ticket sales, the artist will receive 25% of the guarantee,” according to a memo obtained by Rolling Stone — so if the pop star’s advance was $10 million, she would get to take home a whopping $2.5 million.

However, a source close to Lopez told Froelich that the songstress didn’t keep the cash.

“The tour was in progress; people needed to be paid,” the source told NewsNation. “Unraveling a tour is not easy (or cheap).

“People were already on salary. Any money is held in escrow and is doled out by the bank to pay vendors, dancers, (etc), as well as severance for work they now won’t be doing. Any other money remains (in escrow) until the (next) tour. And there will be a next tour. And everyone who worked on this tour will be rehired for the next one.”

On May 31, Live Nation announced that the tour, which was scheduled to start on June 26, was canned, stating that the reason was because the singer was “taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.”

However, there are reports that the cancellation was due to poor ticket sales and, of course, her troubles with Affleck.

Lopez, 54, released a statement on the same day the cancellation was announced, saying, “I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary.”
