Jim Delahunt’s betting verdict and tips on Celtic v Kilmarnock, Rangers’ trip to Perth, Aberdeen and a £250 weekend acca

CALLUM Davidson’s made a great start to life in charge of Queens Park and I’m taking the revitalised Spiders to end Morton’s 13-match unbeaten run at Hampden.

Dougie Imrie’s visitors managed to top their sensational league form by knocking Motherwell out of the Scottish Cup last week and they’re 13/10 favourites with the home side at 13/8.

Queens have won at Raith, Inverness and Dunfermline since former St Johnstone boss Davidson took over with the new man’s only defeat coming at home to Ayr United when they played the last 25 minutes with ten men.

Last week’s 3-0 win over the Pars was two goals less then Morton had managed on the same ground seven days earlier but Queens Park‘s improvement has been dramatic since the dual Cup winning manager’s arrival and today can see a landmark first home win.

I tipped DUNDEE to beat St Johnstone at Evens last Saturday and that come from behind win has pushed me to keep them well on side at home to managerless Ross County at 3/4.

Tony Docherty’s players did OK despite a 2-0 defeat at St Mirren the previous midweek and they look more than capable of making it back-to-back home wins despite caretaker Don Cowie’s County putting up a battling display at Ibrox midweek.

Burnley have drawn their last two home games against Fulham and Luton but they lost to Liverpool and Everton in their two previous Turf Moor outings and a currently rampant ARSENAL look multiples material at 1/4.

The Gunners have looked serious title contenders against Liverpool and West Ham the last twice and Mikel Arteta’s players can make it five straight wins ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Porto and next week’s visit of NEWCASTLE.

Eddie Howe‘s players look to be back on track with seven points from their last three games and the Cherries look ripe for picking off at 5/6 before the Geordies head for Arsenal next Saturday night.

LIVERPOOL can get punters off to a good start with a 4/7 win at Brentford in the early kick-off and there’s home value to be had in the Championship with HUDDERSFIELD, LEICESTER and PRESTON all fancied to complete a treble.

Super Single

Jon Worthington takes HUDDERSFIELD for the final time today and the caretaker can bag a third win in four games by beating Hull at 21/10.

The Terriers have asked new boss Andre Breitenreiter to take over from Jon Worthington on Monday so the caretaker keeps his place in the dugout against Hull and looks value to notch a second home win in a week at 21/10 after Wednesday’s win over Sunderland.

Table topping Foxes can make it five straight league wins by beating Middlesbrough at a general 4/7 and ‘Boro’s midweek conquerors PRESTON can win their local derby against Blackburn at 7/5 for a Championship treble paying over 10/1.

‘All bets are off’ at ‘madhouse’ Chelsea says Sun Sport’s Andy Dillon following defeat against Wolves

League One leaders PORTSMOUTH continued their relentless march towards the Championship with a win over Cambridge midweek and John Mousinho’s side don’t look in any mood to forfeit anything at home to Reading at a general 4/7.

Second top DERBY can beat Stevenage at 10/11 with the play-off chasing visitors having dealt in manager Steve Evans for another two years this week, while PETERBOROUGH can steady the ship by beating Blackpool at evens.

The top two in League Two are both on the road today with Stockport facing a tricky trip to Tranmere and MANSFIELD looking the better bet at 19/20 away to Wallsall after their midweek 9-2 hammering of hapless Harrogate.

The Stags had scored four without reply away to Forest Green before that and Nigel Clough’s side is primed to go top of the table with a win if Stockport’s latest defeat by CREWE has left a mark and they stumble again at Prenton Park

Third top Alexandra can continue their excellent recent form with another win over Harrogate at what looks a superb value 4/5 while fourth placed WREXHAM can get the better of Notts County at 10/11 despite a rare recent home defeat by Bradford.

Back in the Scottish Premiership, 7/5 ST MIRREN can join DUNDEE, HEARTS, ABERDEEN and CELTIC for a five-timer at 17/1.

Weekend Acca

Five homes across four different leagues this week with the Acca paying out at 24/1.

  • Queens Park 13/8
  • Dundee 3/4
  • Hearts 4/6
  • Newcastle 5/6
  • Crewe 4/5

St Johnstone v Rangers
Sunday 12pm Sky Sports

Craig Levein‘s side are 10/1 despite home advantage tomorrow and it’s difficult to see anything other than a Rangers win with the visitors ramping up their title challenge.

Two goals from Cyriel Dessers against Ross County helped Gers draw level at the top of the Premiership on Wednesday and eight successive wins should be nine if the 1/4 chances maintain current form.

Saints will try to frustrate for as long as possible but they’re away to St Mirren and Aberdeen next week before hosting Livingston and their seasonal fate probably hinges more on those fixtures.

Celtic v Kilmarnock

The champions start the weekend just four goals ahead of Rangers after the midweek action and they’re 2/9 to beat Killie despite losing to the visitors twice this season.

Derek McInnes’ fourth placed side have gone five games unbeaten since losing 3-1 to Rangers at Ibrox but they’ve only won two league games on the road and they’re general 12/1 chances to make it three.

Celtic only beat Ross County 1-0 before tough road trips to Aberdeen, Hibs and St Mirren but they showed plenty in that Paisley cup-tie last weekend and can bank a vital three points here.

Aberdeen v Hibernian

Neil Warnock’s comparison of Scottish VAR to the Post Office Horizon system was a comedy classic from the veteran boss but he needs to start winning and today could well be the day.

I made Hibs my top Scottish Cup bet at 10/11 last Saturday and their 3-1 win at Inverness has earned them a home quarter-final against Rangers three weeks tonight.

Hibs can be backed at 21/10 and bigger but they’ve gone seven league games without a win since mid-December and a wised-up Warnock will surely engineer a home win at 23/20.

Hearts v Motherwell

Motherwell couldn’t hold on to a 3-0 lead at Pittodrie on Wednesday and one road win all season doesn’t augur well for a repeat of their Tynecastle league win back in September.

Steven Naismith has third top Hearts on a roll after seven straight wins and 11 games unbeaten (10 wins) and they’re a confident selection to keep that winning form going at an average 4/6.

Lawrence Shankland has scored six goals in Hearts last four games and the anytime scorer bet is a standout 21/20 with Bet 365.
