Fyre restaurant has made good on its promise to take legal action to ban vegan activist Tash Peterson from its premises after weeks of protest and violent brawls.
The legal letter from the Connolly restaurant follows a scuffle that broke out on Saturday night between celebrity chef John Mountain — who issued the initial vegan ban after receiving a complaint from a plant-based customer — and Peterson, who protested outside the venue and played loud sounds of animals screaming.
A social media post from Fyre on Thursday with the legal notice attached reads: “Hahahahahaha and so it begins. Let’s oust her from WA forever.”
The business tagged Peterson’s Instagram handle stating, “God bless you @vganbooty and all who sail in you. Nice knowing you. #veganslayer #vegan #byeforever.”
The letter signed by Head of Litigation Dara Singh informs Peterson and fellow activist (and Peterson’s boyfriend) Jack Higgs that they are “with immediate effect banned from entry onto the Strata Land indefinitely”.
It warns them that if they enter, they will be committing trespass and that the business will “take all appropriate steps to remove and exclude you”.
The letter states a copy of the notice has been given to the Joondalup Police Station.
It advises Peterson and Higgs to supply the notice to “any associates or sympathisers” who have protested with them in the past, that they will also be considered trespassers.
It’s unclear if the notice will deter Peterson, who is frequently before the courts for her disruptive — and often topless — stunts.
Mountain has been involved in a long clash with vegan activists and, despite at times seeming to revel in the attention, broke down during a recent TV interview and revealed the pressure had cost him his relationship with his partner.
On Wednesday he vowed Peterson would have the notice served on her in the next 48 hours.
“She’s just clutching at straws, desperately trying to get another 15 minutes of fame. Her only motivation is to increase her subscriptions on OnlyFans,” Mountain told The West.
“She pulls in $40,000 a month… I’ve looked it all up. She makes nearly as much as me… she just doesn’t have to get out of bed for it.
“There’s procedures in place to make sure she never comes back, she won’t even be allowed to come to the shopping centre.”
The chef banned vegans in June after a customer complained about the restaurant’s failure to accommodate their dietary needs.
The restaurant cited “mental health reasons” for the ban.
