LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Karol G is expressing gratitude to her fans after her private jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Van Nuys.
The Grammy-winning singer’s plane had just departed from Burbank on Thursday night when the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
The aircraft turned back in the Cajon Pass and landed at Van Nuys with emergency crews standing by. Karol G and the other passengers onboard appeared shaken by the incident but were unharmed as they comforted each other on the tarmac.
“My family, my team and I are doing well and are grateful for a new opportunity,” singer Karol G shared after the emergency landing of her plane.
In a message on Instagram on Friday, she thanked fans who had shown their support for the Colombian reggaeton artist.
“Thanks to everyone who has expressed concern and sent messages,” she wrote in Spanish. “My family, my team and I are doing well and are grateful for a new opportunity. God blesses us with life and health every day.”
Fans of Karol G told Eyewitness News they were relieved that she was safe and shared their emotional connection to her music.
Edward Trejo saved up to take his mother and sister to one of Karol G’s concerts.
“My mom works tirelessly. She works every day of the week,” Trejo said. “Being able to share that experience with her, taking her to sing along – it was very touching to me.”
He even got a barbed-wire heart tattoo on his shoulder to match the singer’s own, which is also featured on the exterior of her jet.
Karol G’s latest album “Mañana Será Bonito” or “Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful” made history as the first Spanish-language album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. She is currently on tour in Latin America and reportedly arrived on time for a scheduled concert in Guatemala on Friday.
Karol G has now set a record with the most entries ever on the Hot Latin Songs chart, according to Billboard.
