The Princess of Wales has long been wedded to her court shoes, but this summer, she’s been shaking up her footwear choices. Firstly, she was spotted in a pair of classic Mary Jane heels at Ascot. Then, she opted for a pair of slingbacks (a style famously associated with Princess Diana) while at the Guards Polo Club in Windsor. Now, the royal has returned to another new style in her arsenal: failsafe flats.
Kate wore her navy Emmy London Lulu flats (which she previously wore while visiting a community project in Windsor in June) for a day out at the Royal International Air Tattoo—the world’s largest military air show—in Gloucestershire with Prince William and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Given the rainy weather, Kate’s outfit unsurprisingly had an autumnal feel. The royal teamed her flats with a striped double-breasted blazer by Blazé Milano, navy slim-fit trousers, and a white top underneath. It’s an outfit formula that the Princess often turns to, being practical yet polished at the same time.
With the royal joining a whole host of A-listers in championing flats this summer, it might just be the time to invest in a pair. Happily, they’ll work just as well when we head into autumn, as Kate goes to show.
