Kerala SSLC exam begins on March 4: Changes in Social Science question pattern, ruled sheet and other details

Kerala SSLC exam 2024: The Kerala State Council of Educational Research & Training has released a circular notifying changes in the question paper structure for Social Science in the upcoming Kerala Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination 2024.
The Kerala SSLC 2024 exam is scheduled to begin in the month of March 2024. The Kerala Pariksha Bhavan earlier released the circular mentioning changes in Social Science exam question paper structure.
Kerala SSLC exam 2024 will be held from March 4 to March 25, 2024. Each day the exam will begin at 9:30AM and will go on till the respective duration of each exam- with some ending at 11:15 AM while some at 12:15PM.
The exam starts with Frist language Part-1 exam on March 4, followed by English and Mathematics on March 6 and March 11, respectively. The exam concludes on March 25, 2024 with the Social science exam.
What are the changes being introduced?
The Kerala SCERT has introduced minor changes in the Social Science question paper to ease the syllabus load for students appearing in the upcoming exam.
According to the notice, n the Social Science paper there are two parts, each worth 40 marks. In Part A, all questions must be answered, while in Part B, candidates have the option to select a certain number of questions to answer. This paper consists of questions from two prescribed textbooks in Sociology, with Part A covering compulsory questions from specified units and Part B containing optional unit questions.
In both paper I and paper II, the question-paper follows a similar format, with Part A and Part B each carrying 40 marks. Part A includes compulsory questions, while Part B comprises optional unit questions. This structure provides candidates with flexibility in choosing which questions to answer, allowing them to showcase their understanding of the subject matter effectively.
Ruled answer sheets to be provided for SSLC exam 2024
Announcing another significant change, this year students taking the Kerala SSLC exams will be given ruled answer-sheets to write their responses. According to media reports, each answer sheet will contain eight leaves- inclusive of the main sheet where candidates need to fill their credentials.
Previously, students were given an additional answer sheet alongside the main sheet. However, starting this year, they will receive double sheets with additional ruling. Students will now be able to use six leaves in the main sheet to answer the questions.
