A woman charged with fatally stabbing her husband at their regional Queensland home has pleaded guilty to manslaughter, three years after she was initially charged with murder.
Kerrie Lee Catling was arraigned before Supreme Court Justice Graeme Crow during a brief mention at the Rockhampton Supreme Court on Monday
She has been on remand for the past few years charged with the murder of her husband, Chris.
Mr Catling, 51, was found in the couple’s Norman Gardens home with a single stab wound to his chest on March 22, 2021.
Police allege a knife was found on the ground near his right hand.
An autopsy allegedly determined it was forced in a “downward” trajectory to Mr Catling’s heart, leaving a 12cm deep wound.
He allegedly had no defensive wounds.
Ms Catling has remained behind bars on remand since the murder charge was first laid.
On Monday, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter during her arraignment.
Justice Crow discharged Ms Catling’s murder charge in response.
She will be sentenced on April 23 in Rockhampton and remains in custody on remand.
