Keysbrook bushfire becomes sixth emergency level bushfire in three days

A fast-moving bushfire has prompted an emergency warning for residents in Keysbrook, Nambeelup and North Dandalup in the sixth inferno to trigger evacuations in three days.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services issued an alert just before 12.30pm on Friday, urging people west of South Western Hwy and east of Yangedi Rd between Henderson Rd in the north and Lakes Rd to leave now if the way is safe.

Firefighters are at the scene, battling the blaze, which started near the intersection of Hopeland Rd and Elliott Rd in Keysbrook at about 11.35am.

It is too late to leave for people north of Readheads Rd.

People south of Readheads Rd should leave immediately to the south if the way is clear.

It comes as DFES battles fire on several fronts across the State, with four fires in 48 hours threatening lives, destroying homes and razing land amid trying conditions in Parkerville, Toodyay, Eaton, Manjimup and Lancelin.

The new emergency area was at risk just weeks ago when fires threatened homes, a local prison and a Buddhist monastery at the first weekend of November.

It prompted the WA Government to request assistance from over east, resulting in the NSW Government’s C130 Hercules large air tanker being flown over to help.
