Killing Eve Hits With Viewers 65+, Fallout Stays No. 1

“Killing Eve” made its way onto Nielsen’s weekly streaming rankings for the April 15-21 viewing window, enjoying a similar effect as titles like “Suits” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” that have seen increased popularity upon being added to Netflix despite having concluded years ago. The BBC thriller was watched for 719 million minutes in its first week on the streamer, landing at No. 8 on the chart.

But an interesting aspect of the series’ surge is the demographic breakdown of its audience. Per Nielsen, one third of “Killing Eve” viewership this week came from people age 65 and above, representing the largest concentration of viewers. That’s a surprise for a series perhaps most famous for the sexual tension between its two female leads, with one being a psychopathic assassin.

At the top of the chart this week was “Fallout,” which hit 2.6 billion minutes watched in its first full week availability after debuting with 2.9 billion minutes in its first five days. Nielsen pointed out the rarity of achieving back-to-back 2 billion-minute weeks, which hasn’t happen since the meteoric run of “Suits” in 2023, which also makes this a record for Amazon. Not only has “Fallout” been its most successful title on the Nielsen charts, it is also the first title to ever achieve a 2 billion streak without streaming on Netflix.

More to come…
