While college is meant to be a ticket to a better life, it can sometimes feel like a one-way trip into debt. But Los Angeles Unified School District does not want fear of a hefty price tag to hold back its students from pursuing higher education.
On Saturday, Jan. 27, the district invited 2,000 students and their families to attend the district’s first-ever financial aid fair, where they learned how to maximize the money they receive for college.
The workshops demystified the financial aid process, and students and their families got help filling out their Federal Student Aid and California Dream Act Application forms at Los Angeles Harbor College in Wilmington.
Making it an even better day, they were treated to performances from high school marching bands, spirit squads and cheer teams.
