The headline news may be all about leather alternatives but the leather sector is fighting back to prove its sustainability credentials with the “world’s first-ever digital exhibition that spotlights and celebrates the longevity and circularity of leather”.
And heading the “overarching campaigning mission for 2023 to ‘Buy Better. Buy Leather’” is not-for-profit trade organisation Leather Naturally. And its supported by high profile leather designers and makers including Suzie Fletcher (The Repair Shop), Bill Amberg and Julie Deane.
It informs part of Leather Naturally’s “overarching campaigning mission for 2023 to ‘Buy Better. Buy Leather’.
Using the “powerful imagery, immersive video content and opportunities to click through gallery windows for an even deeper learning experience”, so ‘A Long Story’ will “illustrate the long life of leather through personal stories, brand features, historical facts and films from an array of modern makers, ambassadors and leather repair experts”.
Featured brands include Coach, adidas, Dr Martens, Schott NYC, Ecco, Puma, Dents, The Boot Repair Company, Leather Repair Company and Chicago School of Shoemaking, Anya Hindmarch & Bill Amberg.
In a first, A Long Story will also invite the public “to share their own, well-loved leather treasures, curating greater engagement and duration to the exhibition experience.
