Gauteng ANC leader Panyaza Lesufi has promised as many as 35 000 jobs to Gauteng citizen, who will be employed by provincial government as early as 1 February.
Lesufi was addressing ANC Greater Johannesburg volunteers at the Orlando West Communial Hall on Saturday.

Lesufi says as part of the ANC election campaign in Gauteng, they will ensure the following:
- 35 000 jobs, be employed by provincial government
- 3000 jobs for military veterans
- Electricity to Soweto
- Uncapped busaries for top three learners in township schools
“As the Gauteng Provincial Government, as of 1 February, we will start to employ young people, so that we dont have young people who are unemployed in our province” Lesufi says.
This includes teachers and nurses who contracts came to an end in October 2023.
UMKHONTO WESIZWE
In response to the newly formed Umkhonto Wesizwe Party, Lesufi has also called on military veterans of Umkhonto Wesizwe and other military organisations to come forward and be trained as of 5 February to tackle crime.
“From 1st of March we need those that were part of MK and military organisations. We need 3000 of you to go and fight crime in Gauteng”
“All combatants of Umkhonto Wesizwe, don’t go that side, come this side.”
