It’s Day 2 of the Colorado high school state track and field meet at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood. The Denver Post is there throughout the weekend providing live coverage. Refresh this page for the latest updates and results.
10:41 a.m. — In the Class 4A 3200-meter run, a pair of Battle Mountain teammates raced down to the wire for the title. Both of them blew away the rest of the field and ended up setting an all-classification state meet record in the process. Senior Will Brunner bested his teammate, Porter Middaugh, 9:01.22 to 9:01.33. The previous state meet record was 9:03.83, set by Longmont’s Connor McCormick in 2022. Brunner, a Harvard commit who also won the 3200 title last year and the Class 4A cross country crown last fall, says “neither one of us was going to give it to the other one today. That helped push each other to a much faster race that wouldn’t have been achieved otherwise.” Middaugh is headed to train with the USA Triathlon development team. — Kyle Newman

Updates
What a Battle (10:38 a.m.): The 4A boys 3200 meter run was as good as advertised. Battle Mountain Senior Will Brunner and teammate Porter Middaugh ran in a pack of four for most of the race, but separated themselves out for the final two laps. The two basically sprinted the final 600 meters, but Brunner defended his state title in a 4A meet record of 9:01.22. Middaugh nearly stole it in the last 50 meters, but fell just short with a time of 9:01.33. — Braidon Nourse
Double winner (9:37 a.m.): Two days, two state titles for Konner Rowden-Stum, the Genoa-Hugo/Karval senior who now has won the 1A boys triple jump and long jump. Rowden-Stum set a new meet record in the latter on Thursday, then edged out Haxtun’s Zach Statz by 17.25 inches to claim the third triple jump crown of his prep career with a mark of 42-7.5. He now has five state titles total between the two events. — Matt Schubert
Back at it (8:30 a.m.): We’ve back for more at Jeffco Stadium. There’s all sorts of storylines hanging out there today, including the nationally ranked Cherokee Trail boys 800 meter relay team going for gold, Liberty Common’s Isabel Allori looking to take the second leg of a potential 3A distance sweep in the 3A girls 800, a much-anticipated showdown in the 3A girls pole vault between The Classical Academy’s Anna Willis and Peak to Peak’s Kourtney Rathke and much, much more. Stay tuned here for all of the updates. — Matt Schubert
