Liverpool hold Man City to a draw; ends Etihad winning streak

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored late to earn Liverpool a draw at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Reds fell behind to Erling Haaland’s low strike midway through first half but Alexander-Arnold found the bottom corner superbly with 10 left to play to force a share of the spoils between the sides that started the day first and second in the table.

Liverpool though lost Diogo Jota and goalkeeper Alisson to injury.

The 31-year-old keeper went down holding his leg in stoppage-time, but was able to continue.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp provided an injury update on his two players after the match.

 “The shadow on this game is obviously that Ali felt something and Diogo felt something – something we have to assess and then we will see.”

Expanding further on Alisson’s fitness, the Liverpool boss added: “I hope it’s not that serious, but I don’t have the answer – no clue in the moment what it is.

“I spoke to him and he said he only felt [it] a little bit, but we have to wait for the scan,” Klopp said.

The Reds next face LASK in the Europa League before hosting Fulham next week Sunday.
