What if the Heart of the Ocean didn’t end up at the bottom of the sea after all? This is a question that apparent Titanic fan Kate Beckinsale dared to ask this weekend when the actor wore the dress equivalent of the necklace to, where else, but Leonardo DiCaprio’s 49th birthday party.
Beckinsale wore a black velvet bodysuit with a corseted, lace up back. Her strapless top was embellished with three rows of large rhinestones, which resembled a trio of diamond necklaces hanging down over her bodysuit. But the real attention grabber was the enormous three-dimensional radiant cut sapphire. (To be fair, it is not a perfect replica, as the stone in the movie was heart-shaped). The faux stone was surrounded by a halo of more white rhinestones, which snaked over her hips and around her back. From behind, Beckinsale appeared to offer her take on the pantless trend, wearing a pair of sheer black stockings under her bodysuit.
She also chose maximal accessories for her already bold look. Beckinsale wore a pair of black stiletto heels with a towering lucite platform, which she paired with round lucite bangles on each wrist. And when it comes to gems, more is more: she wore a pair of dangling bejeweled earrings and carried a black purse with a bedazzled trim. Because it’s a birthday party after all, she affixed an oversized black bow to her high ponytail.
We wonder how Leonardo DiCaprio felt to be reunited with the long lost Heart of the Ocean after all these years.
