New Zealand singer Lorde has been snapped taking public transport in an extremely normal move from a famous person.
Lorde, 26, was spotted by a fan in New York City taking the subway along with all the everyday commuters and looking very low-key.
You might imagine that one of the most famous singers in the world would be jetting around in private cars or at least splurging on an Uber, but not in this case.
Lorde was pictured sitting by herself, looking casual and wearing jeans and a T-shirt paired with oversized headphones. She was also carrying a canvas tote bag that every woman in her 20s owns a version of.
The star didn’t seem upset about being spotted because she happily snapped a selfie with a fan, who shared it proudly on social media.
The private popstar has always done her best to live a low-key life despite her mega success. She rolled onto the scene at only 16 with her huge hit Royals, but unlike her peers, she barely uses Instagram and currently has only two posts but 10 million followers on the social media app.
She also rarely comments on her personal life and is hardly ever seen at any typical Hollywood events.
Despite her need for privacy last month, she shared a lengthy post with her fans, revealing she was going through a “heartbreak”.
In a note titled ‘How I’ve been, revised’ she shared with her subscriber fan base that she was going through a time of growth.
“I’m different but the same. I ache all the time, I forget why and then remember,” she explained.
“I’m not trying to hide from the pain, and I understand now that pain isn’t something to hide from, that there’s actually great beauty in moving with it. But sometimes, I’m sick of being with myself.”
The note has sparked a theory that she may have ended things with music executive Justin Warren.
Lorde’s never spoken about their relationship, but they have been linked since early 2015 and spotted together consistently and not much is known about their relationship except there’s a significant seventeen year age gap.
She has often been honest about the toll of heartache. In 2016 she split from her previous boyfriend, photographer James Lowe.
She said the break-up took her to some “crazy” places and hinted that it was the inspiration behind her critically successful album Melodrama.
“There was an element of escapism and exploration and wanting to be myself in strange situations and see what happens. After a break-up, you go to these crazy places. I definitely did,” she told Stellar magazine.
