The Married At First Sight cast of 2023 have been struggling to make it as full-time influencers unlike previous years’ icons and have been left to return to their previous jobs.
The reality show has previously left stars with huge followings, brand deals, podcasts and OnlyFans accounts.
The most recent cast, however, can barely make ends meet.
Most of the season 10 cast of the Nine show have returned to their former day jobs, with many of their social media following’s plateauing after the show finished.
A source told Yahoo Lifestyle that “the public is over the reality TV-to-influencer route and haven’t engaged as much.”
“And with everyone feeling the cost of living crisis – the last thing people want to see spammed on their newsfeed is the MAFS cast flaunting their lifestyle.”
Ollie Skelton, Tahnee Cook and Harrison Boon have all started part-time podcasts alongside their day jobs.
Cook recently launched the Chuffed podcast and is working to build an audience while working in her PR role.
Skelton’s podcast Tosser, which has claimed some great reviews, also seems to be just a part-time gig for the Perth-raised groom.
Labelled the villain of the season, Boon released a 10-episode podcast that rated poorly, leaving him to return to life as a trade.
Partnered with Boon in the show, Bronte Schofield revealed she earned over $100,000 in her first week of having an OnlyFans.
Her Instagram has since been disabled multiple times by troll accounts, so it is unclear whether she can keep up the success of her page.
However, there are a few success stories of the season.
Entrepreneur Melinda Willis continues to thrive with her business Melly’s Beauty Parlour, where co-star Caitlin McConville works with her.
Evelyn Ellis has nabbed deals left right and centre since the show aired.
2022’s season’s cast dominated with popularity, specifically Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding who hit the jackpot with their Sit with Us podcast, raking it in with a $250,000 deal and sell-out merch range.
It will be interesting to see if the next season of the show will produce more high-earning influencers or whether this marks the end of the reality TV celebrity.
