Luc Eymael has spilled the beans on Kaizer Chiefs next coach arrival status. In a shocking revelation, former Free State Stars coach Eymael has confirmed that Moroccan club FAR Rabat head coach Nabi is poised to take the reins at Chiefs. The Tunisian mentor is reportedly 95% likely to join the Amakhosi.
“Kaizer Chiefs 95% want Nabi, and if he goes there now [while the league is still on], he will certainly lose out on the league title in Morocco, and that will be unfortunate for him because he is a good friend of mine,” said Eymael as quoted by Kick Off.
“And now Nabi wants to come to Kaizer Chiefs because I know they met. I cannot say anything about Alexandre Santos, I just saw him coach his team in Angola.”
Nabi’s impressive track record
Nabi has made a name for himself in African football. By leading Yanga back to their glory days again. Eymael, who coached Yanga during his tenure, attests to Nabi’s exceptional skills. “He built a stronger team than I ever did.”
Nabi’s success in Morocco has also caught the eye. With his team topping the league for most of the season.
Chiefs’ desperate search for glory
Kaizer Chiefs have been without a trophy for far too long, and the pressure is mounting. Eymael believes Nabi can bring back the glory days. But noted that the league in Morocco is challenging. Nabi’s ability to coach in front of packed stadiums will serve him well in South Africa. Where pressure is high, especially against Mamelodi Sundowns and in the Soweto Derby.
“So many years without winning a trophy, it’s a difficult thing for an institution like Kaizer Chiefs,” continued Eymael. “Only God knows if he will be able to bring back the glory days to Kaizer Chiefs, therefore I cannot say if he is strong enough or not strong enough. If he can coach a team like Yanga who plays in front of a full Stadium every week, I don’t see why he shouldn’t succeed at Kaizer Chiefs.”
Coaching changes looms
If Nabi’s appointment is confirmed, significant changes are expected in the coaching staff. Dillon Sheppard, Aubrey Mathibe, and Muzi Maluleke may exit. Which would pave the way for a new era at Naturena. Kaizer Motaung Senior and Bobby Motaung are already involved in discussions, with a delegation travelling to Rabat to finalise the deal.
