Maisie Williams Makes an Unexpected Pairing Work In Her Favor

Last night Maisie Williams attended the BAFTA Rising Star party in London. While we already know the depths of her acting talent thanks to her turn as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, she has proven herself a fashion star as well. Take the punky Maison Margiela fascinator she wore to Vogue World: London, or the edgy-but-sweet Simone Rocha dress she wore to the 2023 Fashion Awards.

Her outfit for yesterday’s party proved no exception to her keen fashion sense, where she offered a playful take on workwear. Williams wore a black mesh long sleeved top from Nensi Dojaka, complete with a halter neckline, intricate wrapping, and cutouts at the chest, shoulders, and back. (The open back showed off her tarot card tattoo.) Rather than lean into the top’s inherent sexiness, the actor pivoted, instead pairing it with a pair of low-slung gray trousers, complete with a raw hem.

Williams accessorized with a pair of black, pointy-toed heels, chunky silver hoop earrings, and a white graphic shoulder bag. She wore her pixie cut slicked back, held in place with two clips.

The actor, who is starring in The New Look, about the early days of Christian Dior, has most definitely left the 1940s behind her in favor of a more current style. Her take on workwear—pairing office-friendly trousers with a NSFW top—is not only in line with her subversive style, but is very appropriate for the Gen Z experience of work life post-Covid. We’re fans of the office-wear rebrand (but maybe check with your HR department first.)
