FROZEN out Scott McKenna looks set to leave Nottingham forest this month with the Old Firm on transfer alert.
But while the defender – banished from training by ex-boss Steve Cooper – doesn’t know where his future lies, a report has declared where it WON’T.
McKenna was a previous transfer target of Celtic in 2018 and a move was mooted again this month to replace Nat Phillips’ early return to Liverpool.
The Hoops were expected to battle it out with Rangers for the defender with Trabzonspor also showing interest in the Aberdeen record transfer.
However it seems the path is clear for one half of the Old Firm to chase down the 27-year-old – potentially on a loan with option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
The Daily Record reports that McKenna is NOT on Celtic’s January wishlist with Brendan Rodgers looking at other targets – leaving Rangers with a free run at the player.

The Hoops previously had a £3.5m bid knocked back by Aberdeen two years before McKenna moved south for the highest fee ever received at Pittodrie.
Back then Brendan Rodgers said: “He is a young player that I like, but it was made clear Scott won’t be for sale in this window so that would end that.
This time around there has been no official declaration of interest but the Glasgow clubs were linked with a potential bargain buy earlier this week.
McKenna’s contract at the City Ground expires in the summer and both he and ex-Rangers flop Joe Worrall were frozen out of training last month.
They could face competition from Turkish side Trabzonspor though, according to the Athletic.
They are currently sixth in the Turkish Super Liga, but could be able to put together a financial package to rival Philippe Clement’s side.
McKenna has yet to feature under new boss Nuno Espirito Santo who is now working with ex-Gers sporting director Ross Wilson to strengthen the Premiership strugglers.
The defender helped Forest out of the Championship and starred 20 times last season, but this term he has played just five times – the last coming in the middle of September.
