Following their 1-0 win at the Athlone Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns now have 72 log points from 28 matches this season, thanks to 22 wins and six draws.

Quick to highlight new record

Masandawana broke the season points record that they previously owned – 71 points – in winning the title in the 2015/2016 season.

The club were quick to highlight their new record on their X account.

That points tally is a NEW record for the PSL in a 16-team season.

Lesiba Nku scored the only goal of the match in the 66th minute.

With two matches still remaining in the season, Mamelodi Sundowns could pick up as many as six more points, finishing the season on a whopping 78.

Don’t bet against them doing so!

Mamelodi Sundowns hold a yawning 22 point lead over their nearest challengers – and have played one fewer match.
