Mamelodi Sundowns are close to agreeing a deal with Stellenbosch FC for midfielder Jayden Adams.
Adams was part of the Bafana Bafana side that won bronze at Afcon, featuring a bulk of Sundowns players.
Despite already cruising in the DStv Premiership, Sundowns were the most active side in the January window. The Brazilians already had a nine-point gap on second placed Cape Town City, with three games in hand at the time. That did not stop them from pursuing a squad boost ahead of the second half of the season. Of course for them, they also have to factor continental commitments with hopes of a Club FIFA World Cup too.
Now with that on the horizon, Sundowns went and signed the Likes of Zukho Mdunyelwa, Matias Esquivel. Then when everybody thought that they had strengthened enough, they add Thembinkosi Lorch and Tashreeq Matthews. The Rulani Mokwena-led side are showing no signs of slowing down on the transfer market ahead of next season. Adams is believed to be their next big signing in waiting.
By the looks of things, Sundowns are leaving very little to chance and are already working on the next window. Reliable sources close to Stellenbosch have revealed to The South African News that a deal taking Adams to Chloorkop is all but done. Although the source says the deal is not yet signed and sealed, it is extremely close to being that. The two clubs are believed to be at an advanced stage with their negotiation. It is also thought there is strong belief from all parties involved that the deal will go through.
Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Stellenbosch have slapped a R20 million price tag for Adams.
Sundowns given Adams quote by Stellenbosch?
“Stellies have placed a hands-off sign on their national team star; however, a source close to the dealings has since informed the crew that the Carling Knockout champions will accept nothing less than R20 million if they are to lose Adams to Gauteng.” Wrote the publication.
With Sundowns the club looking to tie up a deal with Adams, it now seems like they know his price.
