Man accused of leaving dog locked without food and water in Koondoola laundry for four days

A man is accused of leaving a Staffy crossbreed dog locked in a laundry in Perth’s north for at least four days without access to adequate food or water.

The 34-year-old man who has been charged with animal cruelty will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on September 15.

It comes after the RSPCA WA received a report two months ago from WA Police about a skinny dog locked in a single room in a Koondoola property.

It is alleged that at the time the dog was living with the man’s mother who had been admitted to hospital.

The accused had assured police he would look after the dog in his mother’s absence — but the RSPCA WA alleges that its inspector found the dog in the laundry room with a tin of unopened dog food on the washing machine and an empty bucket lying on its side.
