Man found dead near Taylor Swift’s Edinburgh gig as suspect charged

A MAN’S body was found near Taylor Swift’s concert in Edinburgh as a suspect was charged in connection with the death.

Cops were called to a property on Westfield Road, which is around 300 metres from Murrayfield Stadium, at around 12:55pm on Friday.

It came as thousands of gig-goers flocked to the national rugby stadium for the first night of the superstar’s Eras Tour.

Cops urged motorists and revellers in the area to use other routes while they responded to the incident.

A 43-year-old suspect has been charged in connection with the death and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today, reports the BBC.

Detective Inspector David McAlinden said: “At this time, our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the deceased.

“This was a contained incident, however we know that the police presence and subsequent road closure has had a significant impact on the local community and the wider public.”
