MANCHESTER UNITED’S formation had fans losing their minds during Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Liverpool.
The Red Devils secured a dramatic extra-time win over their fierce rivals to reach the semi-finals.
After taking an early lead through Scott McTominay, United were soon left stretched as Liverpool chased an equaliser.
The Reds were afforded growing amounts of space in the home side’s half as the game opened up during the first half.
During one attack, the Red Devils appeared to be lined up in a 5-0-5 formation, with a huge gap left between defence and attack.
Fans were quick to take to social media to share their shock at Erik ten Hag’s apparent choice of formation.
Some even made reference to the Arctic Monkeys song ‘505’.
One supporter wrote on X: “Formation like that Arctic Monkeys song.”
Another joked: “505, snap out of it, do me a favour. Could be on about any of them.”
A third fan defended Ten Hag, though, commenting: “Can’t even blame Ten Hag at this point, it’s the players.”
