MANCHESTER UNITED fans “want Ole Gunnar Solskjaer back” after seeing what Bruno Fernandes did after last night’s crushing loss.
The Red Devils suffered a crushing 4-3 defeat to the Danes in Champions League Group A after Marcus Rashford was shown a first-half red card for a studs-up challenge.
Erik ten Hag’s struggling side threw away the lead TWICE in a match that had seven goals, two penalties, the “game-changing” sending off and lengthy delays due to a pitch invading protester and a medical emergency in the crowd.
VAR was once again the main talking point, with it deeming that Rashford had planted his foot on the ankle of Elias Jelert before the ref was also called to the pitchside monitor a further two times to award penalties – with Harry Maguire harshly adjudged to have handballed while the Red Devils benefitted from a similar call in the second period.
Eagle-eyed viewers also claimed that Copenhagen’s first goal, which was seconds after Rashford’s red, should have been disallowed.
And they were raging after an apparent foul on two-goal Rasmus Hojlund by already booked Denis Vavro went unpunished.
Despite all of those setbacks, United still looked on course to claim a 3-2 victory after Fernandes fired them ahead from the penalty spot in the 69th-minute.
However, late goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji turned the scoreline on its head and secured the points for Copenhagen.
The Danes are now second in the group behind leaders Bayern Munich, while United are bottom with their Champions League hopes left in tatters.
A clip of Fernandes sitting looking completely devastated, still in his kit and a club coat, on the stairs leading to the dressing-room was shared on social media afterwards and soon went viral.
