Man Utd’s £100million transfer plan to flog Jadon Sancho and Antony as Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues overhaul

MANCHESTER UNITED are hoping to recoup £100million from the sales of Jadon Sancho and Antony, according to reports.

The Red Devils spent £158.5m on the two forwards – £73m on Sancho in 2021 and £85.5m on Antony 12 months later.

But the pair have been disappointing at Old Trafford, scoring 20 goals and assisting nine in 148 games between them.

Sancho, 23, has now returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the campaign.

And Antony has not registered a single goal contribution in 22 appearances this season.

According to The Standard, Man Utd have now offered both Sancho and Antony to Saudi Pro League clubs.

Erik ten Hag’s men are keen to receive around £50m for each of them as incoming owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to make his mark on the club’s transfer policy.

Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq wanted to loan Sancho last summer, but refused to accept a £50m obligation to buy.

Saudi sides signed numerous players from Premier League teams in the summer, including Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

But Sancho and Antony, who are two of 10 £50m-plus players to have flopped at Man Utd in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, are not the only Red Devils stars linked with a move to the Middle East.

Midfielder Casemiro is understood to be attracting interest from Saudi following his recovery from an ankle injury.

The Brazilian, 31, suffered a poor start to the season before he was sidelined, with Man Utd now keen to offload his £350,000-a-week wages.

Ratcliffe is even prepared to grant Casemiro a pay-off to allow him to leave on a free.

Defender Raphael Varane is also being linked with a Saudi switch.

But Man Utd are unlikely to receive a transfer fee for the Frenchman as they refused to exercise a one-year contract extension, meaning his deal will expire at the end of the season.
