Mandurah’s Dolphin Quay to host inaugural WA Big Boat Show

A new boat show featuring the latest in prestige boats is sailing into Mandurah next week.

The inaugural WA Big Boat Show will take to the water in Dolphin Quay from February 16 to 18 and showcase some of WA’s biggest boats.

Boating Industry Association WA director of events Darren Heath said the event would see a wide range of prestige boats on display from motor yachts to sailboats and even SEABOB-Jet water “toys”.

Your local paper, whenever you want it.

“It’s the first of its kind that we’re doing in WA where it’s just on-water only,” he said.

“The show is a mix from the smaller boats, right up to few larger boats, but it’s very much Mandurah-based as well — so it’s a lot of boats that are well suited to Mandurah but they’re all prestige boats.

“So whether they’re a 6m trailerable Whittley, or whether they’re a 52-foot inflatable boat … there’s a very broad range.”

Prospective buyers will also be able to book ahead to go onboard their desired boat for an inspection.

Across the three-day event there will also be a range of family activities including a bouncy castle, face painting, live music and food and drinks.

Mr Heath said the show would have something for everyone, whether they were keen boaters or not.

“Number one thing to think about is boating equals friendship,” he said.

“Come along with your mates, enjoy the hospitality of all the vendors that are there.

“Whether you’re into boating or not, the actual boats will impress a lot of people.

“And for people that want to buy boats, here’s an opportunity to see them where they belong — on the water.”
