The next-gen Swift is set to receive a fresh new look, improved features, and better performance. This popular hatchback was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show earlier this year and has now been launched in Japan. It will make its debut in India with Suzuki’s latest Z-Series engines, replacing the current 1.2-liter four-cylinder K-Series engine with a new and improved 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine. While details about its power are yet to be revealed, this change promises better fuel efficiency and more torque at lower speeds.
Moving on to the eVX electric SUV, Maruti Suzuki is finally entering the electric vehicle (EV) market in India. The eVX was first showcased as a concept at the Auto Expo 2023 and is expected to offer two battery options in India – a 48 kWh unit for base models and a more powerful 60 kWh unit for higher variants. The electric SUV features a futuristic cabin design, including a large infotainment system, rectangular steering wheel, and touch-sensitive controls. It is based on a locally adapted version of Toyota’s 40PL electric skateboard architecture and will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. With a range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge, the eVX is set to make a big impact in the EV market when it launches in late 2024.
Apart from the Swift and eVX, Maruti Suzuki has more surprises in store for its customers. The Dzire, the sedan sibling of the Swift, is also expected to receive a facelift in 2024. It is likely that the updated Dzire will be launched after the fourth-gen Swift to refresh India’s top-selling compact sedan.
