Matildas star Caitlin Foord’s goals turned into music hit by Mallrat and Kwame

Matildas superstar Caitlin Foord’s fancy footwork on the pitch is now heading for the dance floors.

The sound of the World Cup star’s ball strikes hitting the net have been used as the beat on a new tune from Aussie singer Mallrat and rapper Kwame.

Foord, 28, made her musical debut after agreeing to boot some balls for the chart stars to make their track create Back Of The Net Beats.

The lyrics fittingly go: “You better watch whenever she strikes.”

Foord, who has been playing soccer since the age of nine, was loving her chance at pop stardom.

“If I could play with music I would. I think it just gives you something more to want to keep going and to go a little bit harder and a little bit quicker,” the sports icon said.

Mallrat sampled the audio of Foord’s ball kicks and then chopped it up, slowed it down and created chords and then added her voice.

The singer said: “At first I was following the natural rhythms of Caitln’s drills, I thought it was so interesting that it was naturally at 120 bpm.”

Mallrat said: “I didn’t have to nudge any of the sounds very much for those loops.

“I just chopped it up. Slowed it down and then found different moments where my voice kind of glitched and I created chords out of that and then I just let Kwame do his thing.”

The song and video is used on a new adidas campaign, created by Australia’s largest youth publisher The Brag Media.
