Mary Fowler’s reputation as the darling of Australian football continues to grow … and grow.
The Matildas superstar is in WA to play in next week’s Perth International Football Cup for Manchester City, and the much-loved 21-year-old has again endeared herself to the people when she was spotted lending a helping hand to a baby turtle.
Fowler and her City teammates were taking a walk around the Burswood’s Crown precinct in Perth on Thursday.

And it was then she noticed the tiny creature crawling on the path.
Fowler gently lifted it into her hand and guided it back towards the Swan River for safety.
“Mary Fowler doing her bit for the local nature 🤗,” the club trumpeted on Instagram with a photo of Fowler in action.
While Fowler’s teammate Kerstin Casparij seemingly gave the turtle a name: “Shout out to Alfred,” she said.
The caring act naturally delighted fans as well.
“Hail Queen Mary! Saviour of the Aussie wildlife. 🙌🙌🙌,” one fan said.
“Crocodile Fowler,” another said, referencing the famous Paul Hogan movie Crocodile Dundee.
“Moree !!!! We need video admin 🔥🔥,” another fan demanded.
While another said: “She’s at home 😍.”
The gesture follows another kind and caring act — with a much bigger creature — just seven days ago.
Only last week Fowler was spotted with her boyfriend Nathan Cleary, as the Penrith champion went to get scans on his injured shoulder.
Cleary had looked like a shattered man the night before, but with Fowler by his side (and with the added bonus of some positive medical news) he was in much better spirits on Friday.
Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, West Ham and Leicester City are all taking part in the Perth tournament at HBF Park next week.
And Fowler is set to be the star attraction when City open the quickfire round of exhibition matches against Leicester on Wednesday night.
Fowler’s Matildas teammate Alanna Kennedy is also set to feature in the tournament.
