Friends star Maggie Wheeler has paid tribute to Matthew Perry after his sudden death.

Wheeler, who played Janice Litman-Goralnik on the show, was Perry’s on-screen girlfriend for the second and third seasons.

She shared a photo of their characters both smiling at each other with a touching statement.

“What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought so many in your short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

According to reports by gossip website TMZ, the 54-year-old was found in a jacuzzi in his home after emergency workers responded to a call for a cardiac arrest.

TMZ reported there was no foul play involved, and it is believed there were no drugs found at the scene.

The other cast members of the popular sitcom have not publicly commented on the news of his death.

Actress Selma Blair also paid tribute to her “oldest boy friend”.

“My oldest boy friend. All of us loved Matthew Perry, and I did especially. Every day,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

In Perry’s memoir: Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, released in 2022, co-star Lisa Kudrow opened up about the actor in the book’s forward.

She went on to describe Perry as the only reason the cast was laughing in the show’s iconic opening scene set in a fountain.

“Matthew could make me laugh so hard every day, and once a week, laugh so hard I cried and couldn’t breathe,” Kudrow wrote.

“He was there, Matthew Perry who is whip-smart… charming, sweet, sensitive, very reasonable and rational.
