Meghan Markle presents Colombian Vice President with mystery ‘personal gift’ as she, Harry arrive in Bogotá

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did not arrive in Colombia empty-handed as they showered the country’s Vice President Francia Márquez with mystery gifts upon arrival.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in the South American country Thursday to kick off their four-day trip.

After arriving in the capital city of Bogotá, the “Suits” alum, 43, presented Márquez, the first black woman to hold the position in Colombia, with a “personal gift.”

The Sussexes were personally invited by Márquez after she was touched by the pair’s tell-all Netflix documentary.

After exchanging gifts, the two women posed for photos together.

Márquez then reportedly expressed her admiration for Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

Harry, 39, and Meghan were invited in for tea and coffee at Márquez’s private residence, where they tried traditional pan de bono — a Colombian cheese bread.

Later that day, the Sussexes were seen holding hands as they strolled through Bogotá.

The couple have a packed schedule lined up for their quick trip, which kicked off by attending an Insight Session at a local children’s school.

The couple also took part in a summit with experts, activists and community members who work to create more positive online environments — something Harry and Meghan have been passionate about.

Later on Friday, the pair will meet with students before attending a luncheon hosted by Márquez.

They will end the day with a get-together with Colombia’s Invictus Games participants.

Notably, Colombia became the first South American country to join Harry’s Invictus Games, which he launched in 2014 for both active and retired military service members from around the world who are wounded, injured or sick.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will also visit Cartagena and Cali during their trip.

The trip comes just days after the couple’s chief of staff, Josh Kettler, quit after just three months on the job.

The reason for Kettler’s departure was revealed Wednesday — just one day before he was due to accompany the Sussexes on their trip to Colombia.

The visit comes just months after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled to Nigeria.
