Her husband Mohamed Esreb, 43, and their close protection officers Matthew Littlewood and Andrew Bott, are also accused of conspiring to swipe the device.

All four defendants were charged with a single count of robbery in December following a lengthy police investigation.

During a hearing at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, which Ms Al-Fayed did not attend, Judge Patricia Lees set a trial date for February 3 next year.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.

Fayed and Esreb, of Park Lane, central London, and Bott, of Coppice Wood, County Durham, will next appear at the same court on May 3 for a plea hearing.

Littlewood, of Haydock Road, Colburn, North Yorkshire, will be arraigned at a later date.

Ms Al-Fayed is the daughter of ex-Fulham FC and Harrods owner Mohamed Al-Fayed, and Finnish socialite Heini Wathén.

Mohamed died of a heart attack last August aged 94.

Camilla was just 12 when her half-brother Dodi Fayed, 43, was killed alongside Princess Diana in a Paris car crash in 1997.

Ms Al-Fayed bought fashion giant Issa in 2011 which she sold to House of Fraser for an undisclosed sum in 2017.

After abandoning her fashion career, she set up the upmarket Vegan restaurant Farmacy in Notting Hill, loved by Madonna and Stella McCartney.

The business has its own farm in the Kent countryside and runs wellness retreats.

Corporal Matthew Littlewood, her bodyguard and co-accused, was awarded a Brigadier’s Commendation for Distinguished Service for his service over three tours of Afghanistan.

He led a reconnaissance team tasked with uncovering Taliban weapons caches and capturing “high-value targets”.

His CV says that he offers “discreet and overt close protection and protective surveillance for an ultra high net worth family”.
