Mondottica unveils debut eyewear line for AllSaints

Eyewear giant Mondottica has released its first collection in its licensing deal with British fashion chain AllSaints. The sunglasses and optical frames have debuted globally.

The range includes gender-neutral sunglass and optical styles in tortoiseshell and coloured acetate finishes. They’re all made from Eastman Acetate Renew, described as a “more conscious acetate”. It’s a “new sustainable material derived from Eastman’s carbon renewal technology that breaks down hard-to-recycle plastic waste into its original molecules to be used in place of virgin fossil feedstock”.

And the company said that “unlike other sustainable alternatives, Acetate Renew is indistinguishable from traditional acetate, assuring wearers of the high quality and premium styles they expect”.

Overall, the pieces include approximately 40% certified recycled content and 60% sustainably sourced bio-based content.

The optical collection includes details such as bespoke branded hinges, bevelling and the metal detailing. Each eyewear style also incorporates AllSaints ‘signatures’ such as hexagon-bolt-shaped studs on the temples and hinges book-ending the AllSaints name. An integrated end-piece and plaque on the hinge is adorned with the AllSaints logo in the brand’s classic distressed metal finish.

The packaging comprises a recycled-based vegan leather fabric case and 100% recycled polyester lens cloth.
