The Narrogin and Districts 8 Ball Association hosted the Narrogin Classic at the weekend, bringing teams from Albany, Katanning and Narrogin to the Cornwall Hotel to compete.
Each association fielded teams of four in two divisions and the round robin competition featured each player going up against every member of the opposing sides in their grade.

This year’s competition over all six tables was very close in both grades, with many games going down to the eight-ball finish.
The winning team in A-grade was Narrogin 1 with 10 points and members Scott Cochrane, Mark Gooley, Adam Symonds and David Shanks went the weekend through undefeated.

Runners-up in the A-grade competition were Albany 2.
Narrogin 1 also took out the B-grade competition with Jake Hiscock, Stuart Budd, Bill Pickford and Tim Stubbs taking the honours for Narrogin for the first time.

The B-grade champions also went undefeated, finishing on 10 points.
Albany 1 were runners-up in the B-grade competition.

Players from each of the three associations played solid games throughout the day
In A-grade the percentage winners were Albany’s Ken Skinner on 70 percent, Katanning’s Kim Michael on 75 percent and Narrogin’s Scott Cochrane on 75 percent.

In the B-grade the winners were Albany’s Amber Chilton on 70 percent, Katanning’s Kaiden West on 70 percent and Narrogin’s Tim Stubbs on 90 percent.
Event organisers thanked all the players, along with association volunteers who helped set up and pack away, plus the management and staff of the Cornwall Hotel for hosting the event.

The Albany Classic will follow in February next year and in May the third and final instalment of the series will be hosted by Katanning.
