The Nedbank Cup is the current name of South Africa’s premier club soccer knockout tournament.

While many formats have been used over the years, the tournament has always been based on the idea of giving lower league and amateur teams a chance to compete with clubs from the DStv Premiership for the cup.

The Nedbank Cup as we know it today has been around since the 2008 season, making this season the 17th all time.

Orlando Pirates are the defending champions and remain in contention to defend their title this season.

The Buccaneers have triumphed in the Nedbank Cup on three occasions, the same number as SuperSport United.

Mamelodi Sundowns lead the way with four titles.

Moroka Swallows, Bidvest Wits, Kaizer Chiefs, Free State Stars, TS Galaxy and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila have all tasted success once.
