NEET PG 2024: NMC releases tentative admission schedule, exam likely in March 2024

NEET PG Admission 2024: The National Medical Commission on Wednesday issued a notification that provides some clarity on whether NEET PG 2024 will be conducted or if the NExT Exam will be implemented next year.
The Post Graduate Medical Entrance Education Board (PGMEB) has invited public comments for the draft of the Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations 2023.In the public notice, the National Medical Commission has given a tentative exam schedule for NEET PG 2024, in case the NExT 2024 does not take place.

The National Exit Test (NExT) was expected to be conducted in 2024. However, in July 2023, the NMC deferred the NExT exam on the advice of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. “All the stakeholders are hereby informed that the National Exit Test (NEXT) examination is deferred on the advice of the Ministry, dated 11.07.2023, till further directions from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare,” reads the public notice issued by the NMC,” reads the public notice issued by NMC.

The NEET PG is likely to continue for at least another year. “Till the first batch based on National Exit Test (NExT) becomes eligible for admission in Broad Speciality, the existing system of admission through National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Post-graduate (NEET-PG) as per Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulation, 2000 (PGMER-2000) shall continue,” the draft reads.
The draft provides information about the tentative dates for NEET PG 2023, should admissions be determined through the National Eligibility test (Postgraduate). According to the proposed timetable, the NEET PG 2024 exam is slated for March 2024, pending confirmation.
