New Aberdeen manager Neil Warnock gets money-can’t-buy offer from celebrity fan

INCOMING Pittodrie boss Neil Warnock had TWO offers from Aberdeen over the weekend – and he’s already accepted one.

The veteran English gaffer has agreed to steady the ship in the north east and agreed a contract until the end of the season with the Dons.

Sunsport first revealed he was in the frame to replace Barry Robson on Saturday and due to be named interim boss within 48 hours.

But as it became clear the cult hero was on his way, and he was spotted by eagle-eyed fans at Aberdeen airport, Warnock was delivered another offer.

And it’s one the 76-year-old might find as hard to turn down as Dave Cormack’s.

He’ll have a busy schedule after being confirmed as new boss on Monday as Aberdeen face Rangers a day later – but he might just make room for this particular diary date during his down-time from turning the Dons fortunes around.

Celebrity Aberdeen fan and 1999 Open champion Paul Lawrie has offered to take the new boss out for a round of GOLF to celebrate his arrival.

Lawrie owns a golf centre including a nine-hole par three course and driving range south of the city.

He sent a message to the club on X.com – formerly Twitter – and said: “Let me know if Mr Warnock would like to play golf whilst he’s here @AberdeenFC. Would be my pleasure to take him out for a game.”

And he’s not the only big name helping him settle in the Granite City.

Neil Warnock: Are You With Me?

After a social media to and fro following Arsenal‘s win over Liverpool Jamie Carragher signed off “Good luck at Aberdeen” and a winking emoji on the social media platform.

The boss has officially been confirmed at Pittodrie on Monday in a deal to last until the end of the season.

The job is veteran Warnock’s 20th management role.

A well-known character in the game, he has also taken a bigger interest in golf thanks to his son Will who plays off scratch. The pair took to the fairways with former Soccer AM duo Tubes and Jimmy Bullard earlier this year.

Warnock admitted he had not been too big a fan until Will took to the sport and joked: “When I play I use the red tees and I tee off the fairway.

“My rules are if I hit a bad one I put another one down!”

Warnock has had two spells at QPR, Crystal Palace and had his second spell charge at Huddersfield Town end in September.

His new job with the Dons book-ends a career that began in 1980 with Gainsborough Trinity.
