Nigeria power past Cameroon to book AFCON QF spot

It’s was battle of the heavyweights in Saturday night’s Africa Cup of Nations (afcon) round of 16 clash.

Nigeria and Cameroon locked horns at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny stadium for a place in the quarterfinals.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria walked away with a 2-0 victory thanks to an Ademola Lookman brace!

The victory means Jose Peseiro’s side proceed to the last eight where they’ll face Angola!

“We know what we need to do and where we need to go. We have prepared and remain focused. We started slowly, moving up gradually.” Cameroon coach Rigoberto Song told PunchNewspapers.

“At this stage of the Afcon competition, I think there are no more things to look for. In three matches, I no longer have the right to calculate. I have to correct what didn’t work. I will do everything necessary to obtain a positive result.

“We are going to approach this match with 200% effort. We are going to give everything on the pitch, like we did against Gambia. We are not going to give up at Afcon.”
