Nike is welcoming back Jason Mayden, the former president of Fear of God Athletics, as chief design officer for Jordan brand.
Mayden took to Instagram to announce the news that he is rejoining the brand where he started as the very first design intern 23 years ago.
“I’m filled with gratitude to announce my return to @jumpman23 as the chief design officer. It’s been an incredible 23-year journey since starting as the brand’s very first design intern,” Mayden said, in his Instagram announcement.
Mayden has held various key roles at Nike from 2001 to 2014. His previous positions included senior global design director of Jordan Brand, director of innovation, digital sport, and senior product designer for footwear, brand, and apparel innovation.
From 2016 to 2020, he served as the CEO and founder of Super Heroic, a direct-to-consumer kid’s clothing and footwear startup backed by Foot Locker. Most recently, from 2020 to 2022, Mayden assumed the role of president at Fear of God Athletics, an Adidas-backed venture led by Los Angeles designer Jerry Lorenzo.
In this role, Mayden will continue to lead Trillicon Valley, a design house he founded in 2017. Additionally, he will maintain his role as a visiting lecturer at USC’s Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy.
