The 2024 NIRF rankings for dental colleges show some notable shifts from the previous year. Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai, has maintained its top position but with a slightly lower score of 81.83 compared to 84.08 in 2023. Manipal College of Dental Sciences retains its second position with a stable performance. Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences has moved up from fourth to third.
King George’s Medical University has entered the top 10, achieving the fourth position. Conversely, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research has fallen from seventh to tenth. About NIRF
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was introduced by the Ministry of Education in 2015 to evaluate and rank higher educational institutions in India. Initially, it covered five categories: Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, University, and Overall. As of 2023, the framework had expanded to 13 categories. For 2024, NIRF has introduced three new categories: Open University, Skill University, and State Public University, bringing the total to 16 categories. This expansion reflects NIRF’s commitment to providing a comprehensive assessment of diverse educational institutions across the country.
