Bhubaneswar: The state government will provide NEET/JEE coaching via online mode to Plus II students of government and government-aided higher secondary schools (HSSs) across the state. It will be given free of cost.
The directorate of higher secondary education has directed the HSSs to install smart TV sets and interactive panels for this purpose.
Raghuram R Iyer, director of higher secondary education, had issued a letter recently to all principals of the government and non-government HSSs to take necessary steps in this regard. This online coaching will be arranged for enhancement of competitive ability of the students, said Iyer in the letter.
Official sources said the mode of deliberation will be purely virtual, that’s why a smart classroom with an interactive panel/ a smart TV is a primary requirement at the HSS level. “Many higher secondary schools have received assistance for smart classes under Chief Minister’s Special Assistance (CM-SA) from the planning and coordination department,” said the official letter.
In case any HSS has not received funds, they are allowed to utilise available funds from the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) account/ HSS development fund as per the existing finance department guidelines, said the official letter.
In a related development, the higher education department has urged the state public universities and colleges under its jurisdiction to start regular coaching classes for Union public service commission (UPSC) examinations from their own expenses. “Syllabus will be revised to cover the syllabus of UPSC/OPSC/JAM and other similar competitive examinations,” said a minutes of the meeting of the department.
