Ohio State recruit Jeremiah Smith still hasn’t signed his NLI

Jeremiah Smith announced he was headed to Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon, but the nation’s top-ranked player appears to be having second thoughts.

The USA Today Florida Network has learned that Chaminade-Madonna’s five-star wide receiver has not signed his National Letter of Intent as of 5:30 p.m. The early signing period started Wednesday and ends on Friday.

Ohio State has not announced Smith as part of their 2024 recruiting class, which is highly atypical if it had received a signed National Letter of Intent.

Smith, who initially committed to the Buckeyes last December, told reporters after his announcement that he had Ohio State and Miami hats in his bag and picked the Buckeyes two minutes before announcing.

Smith is ranked No. 1 on the USA Today Florida Network top 100 and is the No. 1 player in the nation on the 247Sports composite.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Smith caught 90 passes for 1389 yards and 19 touchdowns and helped the Lions win their third consecutive state title in 2023. In his three-year varsity career, Smith caught 179 passes for 3,043 yards and 45 touchdowns.
